Warm, gooey, chocolatey heaven — in a mug, in minutes. This microwave mug cake is rich, fudgy, and ridiculously quick to make. No fancy tools, no baking stress — just mix, zap, and dig in.
Ingredients
- 4 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- ¼ tsp baking powder
- Pinch of salt
- 3 tbsp milk
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil (or melted butter)
- 1 tbsp chocolate chips (optional, but amazing)
- ¼ tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- Mix your dry ingredients. In a microwave-safe mug, stir together 4 tbsp flour, 2 tbsp cocoa powder, 2 tbsp sugar, ¼ tsp baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Use a fork — no need to dirty a whisk.
- Add the wet stuff. Pour in 3 tbsp milk, 2 tbsp oil, and ¼ tsp vanilla extract. Stir until smooth and lump-free. It should be thick but pourable.
- Drop in the chocolate. Toss in 1 tbsp chocolate chips right in the center. This gives you a molten core that’s next-level gooey.
- Microwave magic. Microwave on high for 1 minute and 15 seconds. Let it sit for 30 seconds before diving in — it’s hot and needs time to settle.
- Top it (if you want). Add whipped cream, a scoop of ice cream, or a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Or just eat it straight from the mug like a rebel.

Tips & Variations
💡 No chocolate chips? A spoonful of Nutella in the middle does the trick.
🌿 Make it vegan: Use plant milk and oil, and skip the chocolate chips or use vegan ones.
🍫 Switch it up: Add a pinch of cinnamon or instant coffee to deepen the flavor.

Chefta’s Notes
📖 This is my go-to when I want cake but refuse to put on pants and go to the store. It’s fast, fudgy, and weirdly therapeutic to eat warm with a spoon.
