Meet Chefta

From the beautiful southern coast of Sri Lanka, Chef Thanura Sathmika Muthukumarana found his passion for food at home. His first teacher? His mother—a true master of traditional Sri Lankan cuisine, whose knowledge and techniques shaped his journey.

 

Fast forward to 2018, when Chefta stepped into the spotlight on social media, capturing audiences with his vibrant, innovative approach to cooking. During the COVID-19 pandemic, his food videos went viral on TikTok, gaining widespread recognition for their creativity and authenticity.

 

Today, Chefta continues to inspire, educate, and entertain through his culinary expertise, bringing global flavors into everyday kitchens.

The Culinary Journey

To refine his craft, Chefta pursued his formal education at Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism & Hotel Management (SLITHM)—one of Sri Lanka’s premier culinary schools.

 

After graduation, his professional career took off at the Weligama Bay Marriott, where he honed his skills in a world-class kitchen. His talents later earned him a transfer to Malé, Maldives, where he embraced a new chapter at the prestigious Sheraton Maldives, further expanding his culinary expertise.

 

From his humble beginnings to working in top-tier luxury hotels, Chefta’s journey reflects a deep love for food, dedication, and constant innovation.
